My villagers made it on their own. I think the builders will automatically do that when the time comes, like when your population calls for more.

marcela, drop the golden child on the garden, he will then summon the butterflies. This may take a few tries.
Then, drop him on that orange herb left of the cave. The butterflies will pollenate it and it will grow fruit. :)

casey roxx, try setting your speed to 2x (only if you have enough food for your village). Or you can set your computer time ahead. Also, get enough tech points to buy level 2 in science so you can earn tech ponts faster ( I know it sounds weird, "get more tech points so you can get more tech points). :p

to become a doctor get your sim to research the medical cactus. thats all i know so far. i'm at adept doctor now, not sure if theres anything else to do

VV1, once they are a trainee scientist, they will go to the research table by themselves. If you don't want them to, just go to their details and click on another job. :)

Danielle, if you want a master scientist, you need to keep your villager researching at the table. Researching the plants will only improve his/her "doctor skills".
You can study other herbs, not just the cactus. Also, your doctor can gain skill by healing other sick villagers! :)

Jo, yes, you need the golden child (level 3 in fertility, a nursing mother, the lagoon unblocked and the idol built. Just drop the mom in the lagoon). Drop the golden child in the garden, he will summon the butterflies (one of the puzzles). Then drop him on the orange plant, the butterflies will pollinate it and SPECIAL fruit will grow. ;)

Is population maxed out at 8? My villagers aren't having any more babies and my population is 8

Ok, I've got all the tech and all the puzzles but...

When I drop an adult on the temple and they go get flowers to "honor the temple" a villiager at the treasure chest sees something interesting. Is there anything for them to find at the treasure?

Why does my master doctor keep doing laundry? Is there a point to it? does it earn me tech points? seems pointless to me.

Laundry is pointless. It's just to make your villagers seem more life-like. :)

lhb, after the temple, there is nothign really to do at the temple except honour it. :) The "sees something interesting" at the tresure is just a glitch. It supposed to be a clue to where the tresure is. :)

jordyn, make sure you don't have a man who is a trainee parent. He'll go through all the girls no matter what! The time should go down. It depends on what speed you have set for the game. :)

When you run out of food how do you find a new food place

ScottiE, there is a way, but you'll have to wait. If you're lucky, a crate filled with kids will wash up on shore. Hopefully, one of them contains a girl. If you don't want to wait, you'll have to restart. :(

needhelp, on the skill bar, trainee and master are only little slivers compared to adept. Adept takes up most of the bar, your villager is improving, it's just you can tell. Just wait, you'll see improvement soon. :)

VV1, I'm not quite sure what you mean, but all huts start with scaffolding. When they appear, they are usually at 0 or 1% done.

Sara, there is no way to force them to have females. But usually the game will even out the genders.

n00b, if you are running out of food, put almost all of your villagers on the research table to earn enough points for level 2 or 3 in farming. Also, look uut for mushrooms! They can help a lot at times like these.

buzzy, to die?! *gasp* Just kidding, well, in VV1, there really isn't anything you can do to kill them. In VV2, you can make a stew that lowers their health and keep on making your elder eat it. :)

IG and al3x , collectibles take time, but it's worth it! No, you're doing nothing wrong. The game ends when you have gotten all the collectibles and solved all he puzzles.

bool-a-bool-a, oh, the picture link worked for most people. Um, well, that was really the only link I could find. You can go to the link yourself. Go to ldw.com, click on forums, then on forum lists, then go down all the way to Virtual Villagers, then click on the topic that says "share your pictures". Go to around page 56 (I'm not exactly sure). The picture should be in the middle of the page. Hope it works! :)

What does it mean when it says " waiting for someone"? in new home

Please could someone tell me how to get someone to water the dead flowers. I have unblocked the creek and have a master builder, but he wont go and get water from the lagoon when I put him in the field.

for puzzle two i dont get what to do!! i have an adept farmer level 2, and whenever i put him near the vines and woods it says "need sharp tool" and hes confused... what do i do for the scarecrow?

Ok - Now I have got stage 3 of everything - I have the golden child, ruins, statue, cave opened.
But I still cant get anybody to water the dead flowers from the lagoon.
When I stick a builder on there it says 'Curios about the field' and then a very quick flash of writing saying 'watering the field' and then just as you have read it - it changes to 'Nothing'
When I put a villager in the cave I just get a page of writing saying there is a bowl of fruit so somebody has been there recently.
Is this it - is my game over and do I have to start again. I got it from Real Arcade.

How do I get them to fish? I cleared the debris on the beach, dragged them into the water, and they didn't do anything. They just died when the berries ran out.

I have been to see the picture of where the treasure is and I have dragged all of my builders to it and they just do nothing and then go back to repairing their huts. They are all master builders and I have all three techs

wow I am having a heck of a time trying to find the treasure. I have put my people all around the area between temple and food bin and also the area to left of temple along shore and still cant seem to locate it.

Goodness, I have a 69 year old woman with twins. I guess unlike VV2, VV1 can breed till they die of old age? Can anyone tell me how these games end? I have been asking in all the sites, but noone can tell me.

I have the same 'problem' as renee, a max of 90 villagers and some are worried about housing, but is it possible to make extra huts (besides the 2 that they have built already)?

Also I have a master farmer fishing for hours already, he does his dance after catching a crab, but puzzle 6 is still not solved...

The treasure, puzzle 15, has not been found yet. Is it something they start looking for themselves? I had a few villagers who were 'seeing something unusual", but they didn't start digging. What can I do about it?

How do you know when you have finished the game? I have completed all my puzzles, I have my golden child and he just keeps wanting to "make a party" and everyone just keeps on working and partying. Is this how it ends and that's the secret? I feel like I am missing something. Should they be able to go into the cave? I am in limbo. Any help? And what are collectibles?

Loved the game and discovered some hints along the way...
If you're just beginning, catch as many fish as possible to see you through the drought of the algae in the sea.
Once I'd completed all the puzzles and played around I discovered the best way to increase tech is to place 3 children of the same age and 1 older onto a shell, rock, butterfly or beetle, pause, drag them onto it and unpause - 3 pick it up and therefore you get 300 tech points opposed 2 100. Some rarer collectables are worth more than 100.
Also, if you are struggling for a master elder once a female villager is an elder you can get her to go indoors (I used an esteemed elder - not sure on the baring of this excuse the pun) and she will increase her parenting without 'nursing' didn't seem to have an affect on the male!

How do I get a farmer to actually do somthing I am almost out of food please help me

I have the same question as Anita above. I have all the puzzles completed, 3 levels in every tech, 90 villagers, a plethora of tech points (even though no one seems to research anymore since they don't need to gain any more tech points), masters in ~every~ skill and literally a ~half million~ pieces of food in the bin.

And it's not ending...

The thing is, I don't know if I need my graveyard full. I've only buried about a dozen villagers and am only on generation 3. Does that matter?

Puzzle #1 - Get a builder to clean the well. This is the village water supply. Get a villager with building skill, drag them to the well and let them fix it.

Puzzle #2 - Build a new hut. Population is maxed out at 7 until you build a new hut. A villager trained in building is required to build new huts.

Puzzle #3 - Clean up the beach debris. You need to clean up the debris so the villagers can fish. Drag a villager to the debris and it will start cleaning.

Puzzle #4 - Starting a village school. You need a master scientist. Drag them to the long building north of the reasearch table to start a school.

Puzzle #5 - Remove the blockage of the creek in the northwest corner of the village. Villagers need level 2 in construction to work on this. Drag a villager to the rock pile blocking the water flow from the creek. When the blockage is cleared, water will flow to the lagoon. This puzzle is the key to solving three more puzzles.

Puzzle #6 - You need to complete puzzle #5 first and have a villager with level 3 harvesting. Take a master farmer to the lagoon and they will start hunting fish. This may take awhile.

Puzzle #7 - Discover the graveyard (requires Level 2 of Spirituality). When a villagers dies, drag an adult villager to the northeast corner of the island. The villagers will provide a proper burial the pile of bones in village center. After this first burial, villagers will automatically have burial ceremonies for any deceased villager.

Puzzle #8 - Discover the medicinal properties of 4 plants. One plant is the cactus near the boulder, one plant is near the lagoon, two are on the east side of the island. Drag a villager to each plant until all four are mastered.

Puzzle #9 - You need to complete puzzle #5 first. Drag a villager to the field on the east side of the island (where the dead flowers are). They will water the field with water from the lagoon. Make sure to use a villager with building skill so that the watering continues until the flowers bloom.

Puzzle #10 - Solve puzzle #14 first. Wait for the butterflies to follow the golden child, then drag the golden child to the strange plant north of the berry bush where the butterflies will pollinate the plant.

Puzzle #11 - Restore the temple at the ruins (requires Level 3 of Construction). Drag a villager to the ruins in the southeast of the island and they will begin restoring the ruins.

Puzzle #12 - Requires puzzle #11 complete and Level 3 Spirituality. Drag a builder to the shiny rock on the west side of the village and they will chisel the rock to create an idol.

Puzzle #13 - the birth of the golden child (requires Level 3 of Fertility) . This requires puzzle #5, puzzle #12. Drag a nursing mom to the lagoon.

Puzzle #14 - Requires puzzle #13. Drag the golden child to the magic flower garden and wait for the butterflies.

Puzzle #15 - Buried treasure (requires Level 3 of Construction and Level 3 of Science). Search the sandy areas on the south part of the island between the food bin and the temple.

Puzzle #16 - Moving the boulder (requires the golden child). This one just happens on its own when the golden child is ready, you can't force it.

It is hard to tell if some of these questions relate to V.V. 1 or 2!! I see some questions that have been out there a while, and I will not answer them unless they are repeated because I think those people probably found answers someplace else.

Generally, in V.V.1 winning depends on tech levels and, in some cases, having Masters in skills. Whenever I buy a new tech level, I take my best scientist, my best farmer, and my best builder (one at a time) and drop them on every location on the map of interest, which is just about everywhere, and see if they will do something good. A key message to remember is when the villager is "confused" because that means there is something to do at that spot but a higher level tech is needed.

Nada, no, V.V.1 does not have Esteemed Elders.

jingy, lyddie, angel: the answer to your questions is the same for all - the game is slow, and you can only wait for things to happen. Skills go up, women do stop nursing, tech points accumulate, but none of it happens fast.

Miranda, hope you found the V.V. 2 forum here, but in case you didn't and still need help,

pwpi, likewise, if you haven't found the V.V.2 forum... all the things you talk about, you have to be at tech levels two or more in various areas.

sania_tennis5, you can grow crops and have your villagers fish by solving puzzles and/or having tech level two or more in some areas. If you read the puzzle solutions #3, #5, and #6 by Sophie (a few posts up on this page), you will find answers to your question about fishing. Berries will grow back, but it takes time for that. Kids can help with mushrooms. For more food, you can grow crops in the little area south of the scientist's table, but

Howe do I keep birds from eating up all my seeds? I have had a crop ready to harvest three times and I get a dialog box saying the birds are relentless and have eaten everything.

Just got the game about 24 hours ago, and I already love it - I have A New Home, not the new one.

How do I get them to build more huts? I've searched and searched for help online, but all they say to do is grab a villager and drag them around the village until they see a suitable site for a new hut. But they never do!
