Hey everyone, I think that the tech screens aren't correct.

It says you need both level 3 construction and spirituality for restoring the ruins. Though I only had 3 contruction, I could still make it.

And when I got 3 spirituality, I could carve that idol without level 3 science!

Errrm so i have the golden child and all my puzzles are done ssssooo...what happens now? do i just take care of them? or is there something past the boulder?

Donna,

You can go inside the cave and see a little story, but the game is done when you solve the puzzles. However, you can continue with your tribe to see how well they do.

I got the golden child first go!!!

To get the butterflies to pollenate the fruitless tree, place golden child on the temple, butterflies appear, then place him on the fruitless plant. I've seen people say you can't make him do anything, but everything I've asked him to do (except the boulder, which he did pretty quick anyway) he has done. I have also noticed that butterflies swarm around him in the garden, so if the temple idea doesn't work out, and you've tried a few times, maybe try putting him in the garden then on the fruitless plant.

[Edit: Spoiler tags added. -Pam]

Help! Do I really need a master builder for the treasure? And how do I do it?

To dablueman:

Just follow the instructions in the walkthrough at the top of this page, and you should be fine.

Can anyone please tell me how take my villagers learn how to fish? thanks!

To roanne:

You need to purchase level 3 Farming for your villagers to be able to fish.

About the stranded whale.

If you free the stranded whale, you gain spirituality. I freed two in one game and got spirituality for free!

I'm going crazy! I can't seem to find the buried treasure. tsk.

To roanne:

About the treasure -

You need level 3 Construction and Science. Hover a builder over the sand to the left of the temple and below the food bin. You'll see something like "Is something buried there." Drop the villager and he/she should start digging.

I water the field repeatedly but the flowers don't bloom! help please

To Windd:

About the field of flowers -

It takes many trips from the lagoon to get the flowers to bloom. Usually, it happens when I've turned off the game and then come back the next day. Failing that, I believe the Golden Child will make them bloom once you get him.

I have a limit of 9 people, and I have 9 villagers, construction level 2, how can I build more huts? I don't see any construction sites popping up.

To PoisonedV:

I believe you need to work on the existing hut to be able to have more than 9 population. It probably doesn't look like a construction site. Drop your builder on the bigger hut and see if he/she starts building. It will also show you the percentage complete when you click on the building.

I can't find the buried treasure. I've read the things and I drag a master builder, but I'm getting nothing.

Hi!! I found this site on Google and it was really, really helpful. Great job Jay!!!!!

I love this game! I have been trying to beat it forever and I finally did!! *yayy* I have read some of the comments and saw something about laundry....can someone explain that to me??
I appreciate the help,
Har-Har

To Ion:

About the buried treasure -

Make sure you have level 3 Construction and level 3 Science. The treasure is buried below the food bin and to the left of the temple. Your builder will "see a place to dig" and that's where the treasure is.

To Har-Har:

Laundry is just one of the random things the villagers do when they aren't working, like eating. It doesn't really make a difference in solving puzzles or anything.

How old does the kid have to be before you can get them to work???

I'm having so much trouble finding the area for the buried treasure, I have all the tech maxed out and I keep putting a builder underneath the food bin and next to the temple and I still get nothing. Help please?

To Mai:

Please see my answer to Roanne on November 1, 2008 at 1:50 p.m.

And here's a screenshot that might help you.

http://images.jayisgames.com/hs_pam_virtualvillagers_buriedtreasure.jpg

I have bought all of the tech, and I drop a nursing mother into the lagoon trying to get the golden child. But after I dropped her in, I only see a message saying "she sees her baby reach for the lagoon waters" and then nothing happen. I try several times , still the same, just CAN'T get that golden child! HELP! What else do I need to do?

Kareny, have you

built the idol? You also need level 3 fertility, but if you already have that, you might just be missing that idol.

Ok so I have an adept doctor and she has studied all the plants but only the cactus consistently and I haven't gotten the puzzle solved. She just keeps wandering off to water the flowers when I'm gone even though she is set at healing. How long do I keep dragging her to the strange plants and how long does she need to study them to get the badge?

To JIGuest:

You may be missing one of the plants. A villager only has to study each plant a short time to solve the puzzle of knowing all plants. Check the walkthrough at the top of this page for puzzle #8 and let me know if you still have problems.

I'm not sure if anyone has figured this out or not. I would hope so. Though I can't read through all the comments. In regards to the butterflies. You simply drop the Golden Child on the field of flowers and he calls forth the butterflies.

ive not had anything wash up on my shore and i have been playing for 2 days is this normal?
xxx

To Maryanne:

Things washing up on the shore happen as random island events. And they are very random. Sometimes they come often; sometimes rarely. You'll get one sooner or later. :)

So I have level 3 construction, but I can't seem to build the small hut south of the research table. I keep dropping my builders on it, but nothing happens! What am I doing wrong?

Never mind... I got it figured out. I wasn't expecting to have to build it with one of my master scientists. lol

Hi. I was wondering if you can specifically tell me where the buried treasure might be. I cant find it.

Thanks.

To Sarah:

I posted a screenshot of the buried treasure a few posts above yours. Look for November 27, 2008 at 4:14 p.m.

I kinda wish the GC wouldn't keep throwing parties I need the villages to keep working!

Hey, I've already finished the game, got the Golden Child, did all the puzzles but something still baffles me.

I still have a few of my villagers from time to time say something like, "There's something unusual here" right next to the buried treasure. I mean I already dug up the treasure so what could be next to it?

To get the butterflies, just put the Golden Child on the flower garden. Once you have them, drag Golden Child to fruitless plant and butterflies will pollinate it.

Hey
I can't see this event which just happened on the list so i thought i'd post it ^^ - hope i've got the HTML correct...

A drum washed up on the beach, and i chose the 'break open the drum' option because my villager thought there was something inside it. She instantly became a master healer... the only problem is that she's 5!!!

To Sinead:

It's ok for a 5 year old to be a Master Healer. If you drop her on someone who is sick, she will heal that person. And she'll still be a Master Healer when she grows up.

*Note*
sometimes a breeze blows over and replenishes your berry crop. ya might add that! ;)

The butterflies have gone from my island, don't think it's due to the golden child as i don't have one yet! Is this normal?

Spoiler commented he/she did not know how to get the butterflies or the fruitless plant to bear fruit...well....you must put the Golden Child in the flowers and he will call the butterflies, you then take and drag the golden child to the fruitless plant, wait a second, and then the butterflies will pollenate the fruitless plant giving your villagers more longevity:)

What do I need to do in order to get the villagers to learn to fish? I have level 2 of everything and a Master Farmer, yet everytime I put him / her in the lagoon, nothing happens.

To T-Shea:

You need level 3 Farming in order to fish. And fishing is done in the ocean, not the lagoon.

Believe it or not, but it says that the Golden Child can not die nor can u kill him. A crate wash up on the island that contained rats, well the rats kill my Golden Child & I have tried & tried to creat a new 1, but no luck. How did this happen?

To spawn3601:

That is highly unusual, but apparently not impossible. Are there still puzzles that you need the Golden Child to solve? If not, then you're ok without him. Otherwise, try dropping the women carrying babies into the lagoon to see if it produces another Golden Child.

Has anyone figured out how to make their population grow more then 90 people?

[Edit: Not in this game, except by possibly having twins or triplets when the population count is at 89. However, you can increase population limits in the sequels of this game by completing various collections. -Pam]

I looked at the question's and results but there wasn't one. the question was "(insert name here) sees a mysterios figure in the woods. the answers were move closer for a better look? or back away cautiosly. i chose closer look and my villager disapeared what happend?!

To JIGuest:

You don't ever find out exactly what happened to the villager, but the story continues in the sequels: Virtual Villagers 2: The Lost Children and Virtual Villagers 3: The Secret City. You can click the links below to read our reviews of both games.

http://jayisgames.com/archives/2007/03/virtual_villagers_2.php

http://jayisgames.com/archives/2008/05/virtual_villagers_3_the_secret_city.php

What do I do with the remains of dead villagers? Do I just leave them or can i bury them in the graveyard? I have level 2 spirtituality. I've tried dragging a villager to it, nothing happened. HELP!!!

To VirtualName:

Check the walkthrough at the top of this page for all puzzles. The piece you need is Puzzle #7.

I have 2 master sceintists and have tried placing each of them over the double hut to make it a school but it won't work...What am I doing wrong?

once you have the golden child drag him to the flower field and he will call the butterflies. i have solved all puzzles and have all levels and 90 villagers. now i seem to have stopped accumulating tech points and some of the little villagers keep going near the treasure chest and see "something unusual"--i wonder if theres anything next?

The construction of huts uses rock and wood. The rocks are located just to the right of the food bin and the wood is located to the left of the science table. The first hut is built in the center of the island so the walk to either pile is about the same.

Huts 2 and 3 are built to the left of the science table and to the left of the field. The walk to the wood is MUCH shorter than the walk to the rocks.

To speed up production of huts 2 and 3, pick up the villagers as they start walking toward the rock supply and put them back on the construction site. Keep doing this and the huts will build faster.

If you leave the Moth alone...

the person who found it becomes a master Doctor! cause the little kid found it but made it left alone it's healing bar went max and is an apprentice doctor ( master doctor )

I have completed the entire game thanks to this site. Thank you soooo much! I have only one question. When you place a villager near the double hut it says "he/she thinks this building could be converted" Is there anyway to do this?

To Candy:

You need to drop a Master Scientist on the building to make it a school. If you've completed the entire game, you should have already done this because it's one of the puzzles.

Yeah, I did that but it still says it could be converted. Can it change again?

To Candy:

If the puzzle shows as solved, that should be all there is to it. The building doesn't change to anything else during the game. Do the children come when you click the drum on the right side of the school?

Regarding the Golden Child: if you try to get a Golden child from a mother carrying twins or triplets, only the golden child will result. The other child(ren) will disappear, the mother will come out of the lagoon empty armed, and the population count will drop with the loss of the extra baby. Any ideas what happens to the other baby, or if this is a glitch?

I know that everyone says a girl villager can't have a baby after fifty, but when all of my villagers were dieing i only had a 46 yr old male and 56 yr old female but since she was a master farmer i tryed to get her to fish in the lagoon for food but instead she got The Fish of Fertility and had twins... what's with that?

To Jan:

About the Golden Child -

It's not a glitch. The game is simply programmed to produce one Golden Child at the time it's supposed to happen. No twins or triplets. And, like you said, the population count adjusts back down when the Golden Child comes.

To Julieanna:

The 50 year age limit for having children only applies in Virtual Villagers 2 and Virtual Villagers 3. In this game, the women can have babies until they die, as far as I can tell.

I noticed that the children do come to school when you hit the drum. Does this make them learn faster?

To JIGuest:

I haven't been able to tell that they learn faster. I think it's just something cute to watch. :)

How do I water the crops?

[Edit: Just drop a villager on them. -Pam]

I'm playing VV1 and I have level 3 farming, no master farmer, the ability to fish, but the 6th puzzle is not completed, how can I get the puzzle now?

To Fishy:

About puzzle #6 -

It's not the ability to fish for food. This puzzle is to find the fish of fertility in the lagoon. Check the walkthrough located at the top of this page for the steps to follow. Let me know if you continue to have trouble.

Hey, I have seen so many hints to this game, but not the one I found. I was having trouble with keeping the villagers alive for a long time, but now I have found a recipe for stew that completely restores their health! If they are really low, you will have to make them eat twice, but it restores everyone completely! Use 2 of the lavender flowers at the top by the graveyard and one of the orange flower that sits by itself at the bottom of the village. Hope this helps!

[Edit: You've posted this to the wrong thread. The game with the stews is Virtual Villagers 2: The Lost Children. There is a list of stew recipes posted, including the one you shared. Please post any comments here:

http://jayisgames.com/archives/2007/03/virtual_villagers_2.php

Thanks! -Pam]

I have 91 villagers, and it says i have reached the maximum, but I have no golden child yet, just saving up my tech points, do I have to wait until someone dies, so I can get him?

To Lala:

About the Golden Child -

Even if you have all of the other requirements for the Golden Child, you still need to have room in your population for another person. So, yes, if you have 91 villagers, you have to wait until a couple of people die. You won't be able to add any more villagers until the population drops below 90.

Does anybody know how to get population past 90? When I update my stats I am dead last in population but I can't seem to find the key. I thought when the golden child opened the cave that that would give me more room for more villagers but no go. When I click on a villager he or she is "worried about housing." Any suggestions?

To Susan:

In the sequels to this game, you can increase your max population by completing collections of items or by choosing one faction over the other. But in this original Virtual Villagers game, you don't have those choices. The only way I'm aware of to get the population over 90 is to have twins or triplets when the population counter sits at 89. That would give you a population of 91 or 92. However, twins and triplets aren't in your control. They tend to come more often as you progress through the game, but you can't create multiple births.

I hope this is helpful. :)

To JJ regarding the parties:
I had a problem with that, too. To get the adults back to work I clicked on the drum to make the children go to school and that made the adults forget the party and go back to doing farming, research, etc. Otherwise, especially after the golden child came, it was like one endles party! Hope this helps!

When your tribe is growing more than 10 or so...

There will be another construction popping out and you can drag a builder and build another hut and there will be more popping construction like (seesaw) when you grow more population... ^^

I hope this helps...
I think you can notice this...
Enjoy the game!!!

I have a note on the Golden child. Sort of adds on to what Krystelle said.

You can drop him onto the Garden to summon the butterflies, as well as on the Temple. That was how I got it to work.

another thing your villager might find...

parchment book=villager goes away, never comes back.

So I just got to the Rubble Puzzle for my Tribe, & I read the video thing and everything and while reading it i noticed that the "kissing noise" that the Villagers use when they mate, keeps playing and playing and playing over and over again & now it's just getting really annoying. i dont know why so I was just wondering if it has happened to anyone else? If so why? I tried pausing the game but it still does it, i quit the game and reopened it and it still does it. i logged off of my laptop and it STILL doing it, no one is "going in doors" so i'm confused! I hope my game isnt messed up, it took me forever to get where I'm at & I have a healthy, wonderful village/villagers! thanks.

Crystal :)

To Crystal-TX
About the kissing-noise:

-Look around for villagers skilled as '-Parent'.

(After mastering Fishing, I assigned a handful of female villagers to Breeding, and triggered a few baby-booms.
Population reached 90,, still they Never Stopped Trying to improve their "breeding-skills", bless their little hearts, Lol.
But the kissing sound can go from cute to kind of annoying if they do it like every 2 seconds without the nursing-pause...

Basically what you can do is simply select a Different skill for them, or chase them around 1 by 1 and teach them something New to take their minds Off kissing everyone for a while. =)

That's what I did,
I hope this works for you aswell :)

Geni

alright i just started playing and i was curious on how do you know when one of your villagers is done studying the green strange plant how do you know when to move her/him to the next plant?

PLEASE HELP THANKS :)

Christina.c -

You know they're done when they start walking away. You can then pick them up and try them on another plant.

hey everyone!! im trying to make my huts get bigger but they arent. ive put a whole bunch of villagers on the huts but its not working. and then when i make more babies, villagers will just die! i have all of the techs except for one and i have the golden child. how can i make the huts bigger??? and why do my villagers keep on dying whenever i make new babies?!

To Melissa:

You can build three huts, but you cannot make any of them bigger. Building the huts will increase your maximum population with each one you build, up to a max of 90 villagers.

I don't think having more babies would make your villagers die. It might just be coincidence. How old are the villagers that are dying?

Pam:

I have three huts. I thought you could make them bigger because I read that somewhere. I guess not! My villagers are between 61 and 71 when they die. I've lost 40 of them within a couple of weeks!

Thanks for your help!

To Melissa:

No, you can't make the huts bigger, I'm afraid.

Your villagers are dying at about the right age. As you go further into the game, they tend to live a little longer because of advances in medicine and improved lifestyle, but even then they usually only get into their late 70s or maybe early 80s. You just need to keep having babies to make sure the tribe survives for many generations! :)

in this game i have every puzzle done except for the puzzles that you need the golden child for. i have a population of 90, so i cannot make anymore babies. so here's my problem. i have no nursing mothers! i desperately need a nursing mother to get the golden child, but none of the adults are dying! is there any way that i can make them die or something? or at least make my population counter go up???

VirtualVillagersGirl -

Sorry, you'll have to wait until one of them dies before you can make another baby. Sometimes there are random events that kill a villager, but they are few and far between.

In the walkthrough section it says your villagers have to be 20 years old before they can breed. That is incorrect. They can be a minimum of 18 years to breed.

More like a question than a comment. I figured everything on my own about the game except for one puzzle - the infamous treasure puzzle. I've studied this page looking for answers, I clicked the links and know exactly where the treasure is. I don't have any master builders, i didn't see that any were required. Any help please? :)

Stephanie -

Switch someone to building preference and start dropping them on the small huts until they start repairing them. Keep doing this until they will do it on their own. Eventually they will work their way up to master builder. It does take a lot more time than if they had a building project to work on, but it can be done. Once they are a master builder then you can start digging up the treasure. Also, once a master builder starts the digging, any other builders you have can then work on it.

ok i have the ipod touch version of this game, but i have the idle and the pond cleared but everytime i drop a nursing mother into the pond nothing happens she just turns 18 again and it says "has to take care of baby for more than 20 minutes" i need help getting the golden child and can u have a golden child on the ipod version?

How do the doctors heal people?

How do you have doctors heal people, or does having doctors automatically have your villagers become healthier?

GVK -

If someone is trained as a doctor (and has the doctor option checked in their skill section) then they will automatically heal the sick. You can also make them heal someone by dropping them on the sick person.

To Grinnyp-

Do you mean if the health of that person says "Sick", or can it say "Unhealthy"? I've tried the latter, but the game thinks I'm trying to mate the two villagers. Any help, please?

GVK -

It will say "sick". Make sure the person you are dropping has "healing" checked in their details, otherwise they will behave like mating villagers.

This site has really been a great help! Thanks to all.
Something that might help when you get low on food...you can drop 2 or 3 or maybe more children on mushrooms (if you are fast enough) and each child will grab a mushroom. Really helps with orange ones.
Hope this helps. Running out of food is very stressful! lol

I love the game but need help? Where is the well? And what happens when the bee hive no longer can produce honey??

Gail -

Your questions appear to be about two different games. The well in VV is below and to the right of the berry bush. The beehive is a feature of VV3, where there is no well.

O.K. I am just not getting this...I can't figure out where the berry bush is???? In vv...Also the bee hive is done producing and all they are living on is mushrooms that the children find...I am going to loose all of the people...I have one fruit tree with one fruit on it but no one is able to get it off? And how do you make them plant anything??? One person did for the first tree but now won't do anything but say they are worried about the food situation...Sorry, I'm a little slow on the uptake of this game...

Gail -

You appear to be asking questions about Virtual Villagers 3, so you need to move your questions over to that forum. Have you checked out our walkthrough? It can help.

As for the food situation:

You need to have level 2 building technology so you can fix that broken lift over by the orchard. Once the lift is fixed you can figure out how to use it to get more tree seeds.

Me Gail...I went to work tonight and came home with almost ALL of my people dead...No food, no children to help get any...I had 12 people when I left and have only 4 now, one being a baby...There were two babies and now only one and it isn't old enough to do any mushroom picking..The hive gave them 4 food...Should I just give up and start over?ANY advise would be helpful at this point..It is 4:24 a.m.here and I'm just totally destrought over this...Thanks...
