Great news for those who enjoyed GameDesign's Dice Wars game and thought that it would be even better if it were multiplayer. After building a successful and compelling online multiplayer Texas Hold'em game, Ryan Dewsbury has been hard at work to bring multiplayer action to this beloved dice-based strategy game. And I am very pleased to announce that kdice has just launched!!

Why we picked it: One of Dice Wars strongest criticisms—perhaps its only criticism—was that the computer AI became a boring opponent after a while. The game screamed for a multiplayer version to rectify this and to make the game perfect. Fortunately, Ryan Dewsbury, master of the Google Web Toolkit from his previous work this year with gpokr, saw the opportunity and seized it. The result, kdice, implements the best features of Dice Wars in a browser-based multiplayer game complete with in-game chat, avatars, ranking system, spectator support, and high score list. kdice is our unanimous choice for Best Multiplayer game of 2006.
