Sweep Miner

DoraMike Salyh and Cynic Sama trapped a bunch of kids in a mine full of explosives, not because they're villains in an old Lassie episode, but because it's the puzzle game they made in a week, Sweep Miner. In each level, using the [WASD] or [arrow] keys, you move the miner around the level to rescue the minors, who will follow him when you walk over them, and all you have to do to win is get them all to the exit. The twist? The floor is covered in deadly explosives, and the only time you get to see where they are is when the level first loads. As soon as you take a single step, they all vanish from sight, but they'll still send you sky-high whether you can see them or not, so you'll need to memorize the layout. In addition to occasionally having to rescue more than one wayward tot, you'll have to deal with colour-coded warp ladders that will zap you back and forth around the level. All of which sounds like a lot of trouble for kids. I mean, can't you just, like, make more?... what? Oh, so now I'm a "heartless monster" instead of just "practical". I see how it is.

Despite being made in just a week, Sweep Miner is a solid little puzzle game wrapped around a simple idea. Though perhaps a little too easy to cheat at if you're an unscrupulous sort, it's charmingly presented and doesn't overstay its welcome. The downside is that by having its tutorial spread out over so many levels instead of condensing it down to one or two, the game takes too long to develop any sort of challenge, and will likely still be a bit too simplistic for some when it finally starts "for real". Still, for its limited development period Sweep Miner is a likable little concept we'd love to see get fleshed out more in the future.

It says "click to play", unfortunately when I "click to play" it then opens a new window to register for League of Angels.

Not being able to hold down an arrow and continue moving that direction is extremely irritating.

Agreed Leopardmask.
Also the game complexity could have ramped up way quicker.
(70% felt like the tutorial levels).
Nice otherwise.

Remembering where all the mines are gets to be a bit of a chore eventually.

It's not very playable really.

This is a fail to progress kind of game. I decided I was done on level 2.

To reiterate, clicking exactly on "Click to Play" opens up a window with a very poorly dressed warrior lady, but no miner.

Double-posting to add: it appears to be a Chrome issue. I can play the game in Explorer.

Why does nobody in this game have any arms?

Yeah, there definitely seems to be a Chrome issue here. I could play the game, but the page looked like this: http://snag.gy/Kzzal.jpg

I feel like maybe there could have been a 'hint' system similar to the matches you had back in the days of playing the Mind Maze game that came with Encarta. So you can get a quick glimpse of where the mines are again, instead of being very close to the exit and having to start again.

Yeah, I find it hard to categorize this as a puzzle game, it's basically pure memory.

Similar to @chapel204, I am clicking on 'click to PLAY!', but getting a page coming up to sign up for League of Legends. Chrome on Windows 7.
