Machinery, brick wall, and orange goop. Machinery, brick wall, and orange goop. Machinery, brick wall, and orange goop. Machinery, brick wall, and orange goop.

I'm beginning to see a pattern here.

It kinda looks orange, but it looks more golden to me.

SonicLover Author Profile Page May 28, 2014 12:07 PM

It's not yellow enough to qualify as golden. I'm sticking with orange.

Hmmm...it Was J-10 and now it's D-10.

Dora/Jeff/ et al -

I know this is going to sound silly, but...

Would you please post a phonetic pronunciation of Mateusz's name so that I can know I am pronouncing it right when I hear it in my head?

Hi neo1973! I believe it would be something like muh-tey-ooz, but looking it up online, since it's Polish it looks like it might have a soft W and Sh sound as well, more like muh-tey-woosh. The first one I use myself as far as phonetically goes, but not being a native Polish speaker, I can't guarantee which is correct. :)

must... press... red... buttons... must... press... red... buttons...

Lol, nope.

I got so excited there for a second.

Haha, it was just a guess going by Polish guides online!

There go my plans straight out the window!

CJTressler Author Profile Page May 28, 2014 7:58 PM

If I might be permitted to venture a guess. I would put the emphasis on the first half (Mat) and pronounce the second half 'use' as in 'What is the use of...' and not 'How do I use the...'.

Although, it would be better if Mateusz, himself would drop a line and let us know.

RE: pronunciation, it's definitely something along the lines of /ma-TAY-whoosh/ or /ma-TAY-oosh/ (or somewhere between those two).

(I don't speak Polish, but I do know that they write the "sh" sound with sz and the "s" sound with, well, s. I know this because it's exactly the opposite of how Hungarian writes these sounds, which gets Very Confusing Indeed.)

Akarroa Author Profile Page May 28, 2014 9:21 PM

Where-ever it is, it looks like Rubber Soul got there before us.

More pronunciation:

So /ma-TEH-oosh/. (E as in met or get, not A as in bay or ray.)

You may listen to the correct pronuncation of Mateusz's name here: http://www.forvo.com/word/mateusz/

Am I the only person who has no idea what this post is about?

daymaretown Author Profile Page May 29, 2014 2:09 AM

@ reka 2 threbbler
yes - that's the exact pronunciation. Good work.

Now onto guessing how my surname is pronounced. :D

I am subscribed to Mateusz's site... and this is the first I've seen of these images. Now I'm *really* glad I also subscribe to JIG! Can't wait for the next installment...

LightWarriorK Author Profile Page May 29, 2014 8:41 AM

Wow! So soon after #9, assuming this IS Submachine 10? I've been used to waiting a lot longer for these. S10 or not, can't wait!

lodrelhai Author Profile Page May 29, 2014 7:19 PM replied to Jeff

But... why would I want to escape from JayIsGames?

dsrtrosy Author Profile Page May 30, 2014 2:53 PM

Well, if "Escape from JayIsGames" is anything like the Submachine games, escape is really only an illusion.

True. We are most likely going to escape a labyrinth only to discover we are on a table surrounded by Indian gods and goddesses!!

simplynigel Author Profile Page May 31, 2014 12:27 AM replied to lodrelhai

Exactly. My motivation to actually escape from a Mateusz Skutnik game is becoming eclipsed by the desire to stay in it.

Well, said, sir. Well said.

Someone mentioned that there were no postings of the above images on Mateusz's website... There wouldn't be if it is a JIG exclusive. (wOOhOO!)
Plus Mateusz is incredibly good at keeping his secrets.
HOWEVER, about 3 weeks ago I noticed that SOME mystery-person had posted a
HUGE, COMPLETE version of Picture #1 (of the 4 snips, shown at the top of this page) on the SubmachineWikia website. No annotation was given with the picture, so I just assumed it was one of the many Mateusz-wannabees posting one of their Skutnik-knockoffs.
(I vividly remember thinking "What a GREAT copycat!")
HA! So, now I am curious as to the exact origin of the large version. Hmmmmm....
PLUS! I JUST noticed...check out the FILENAME of the picture that was posted 3 weeks ago on SubmachineWikia: "EFJIG" = EscapeFromJayIsGames. That TOTALLY makes sense...
Here's a direct link to the larger SubmachineWikia image:

thegreatescaper Author Profile Page June 1, 2014 9:31 PM

Can't wait for this to come out... really hope its a multiple room game!

thegreatescaper Author Profile Page June 1, 2014 9:33 PM

Oops, just a quick question:

Did Mateusz Skutnik do all the puzzle design as well? Or was that a JiG Staff part of the project?

It's all Skutnik ;)

I'm going to avoid all possible spoilers. Someone dig me out of this hole when the game gets released. LALALALALALALALA! I can't hear you!
