JayIs2048

TrickyWe've been doing a lot of reading on improving our business model here at JayIsGames. And through all the tomes of literature, filled with talk of "micropayments", "freemium content," "cryptocurrency", and other words that may or may not be found in any dictionary, it seems that a focus on ripping-off Asher Vollmer and Greg Wohlwend "works with conceptual similarities to other popular games" is one surefire path to success. Since there's never been a bandwagon I haven't leapfrogged upon when given the chance, I give to you JayIs2048, a puzzling... we'll say tribute to UsVsTh3m's Make Your Own 2048 generator, which is kind of a tribute to Gabriele Cirulli's 2048, which was a kind of tribute to 1024 by Veewo Studio, which was kind of a tribute to Threes by Asher Vollmer and Greg Wohlwend, which, of course was kind of a tribute to the mathematical postulate that small stuff can be combined to make bigger stuff, an axiom that was first evidenced either by the Ancient Greeks or Voltron. Whew. So if Pythagoras of Samos shows up with a DCMA take-down order, I know who I'm passing the buck to.

The object is to create the 10th level JayIsGames logo by combining squares featuring the lovely faces of our staff. When two squares with the same JiG-face merge, they become a single square with the JiG-face of the next level. (Which JiG-face was assigned to which level was decided through either a long and intensive process in which our relative aesthetic values were compared upon a 3x3 "Brady Bunch Matrix" for maximum visual appeal, or by grabbing the icons of whoever had an article on the front page at the time I threw this together. One of two). Each time you move with [WASD] or the [arrow] keys, not only do all the squares move at once in the same direction, a new square will also be spawned with a value of either Dora or Kimberly. Actually, hitting either down and left over and over again might just be the way to go on this one. Make moves until either the board becomes gridlocked, in which case you sob quietly into the keyboard before hitting the replay button, or you've combined enough to reach the Golden JiG logo in which case you win, and can move on to something less addictive. Like heroin.

Is JayIs2048 an early game of the year candidate? Probably not. Is any aspect of it in any way original? No comment. Is it even the funniest parody of the concept you'll ever see? No, that'll probably be the Numberwang one. But is it something that will elicit half of chuckle from you as you remember what holiday it is, then go check out what Google is doing? Hopefully. And really, that's the only thing this fool is asking.

The link to numberwang doesn't go to numberwang. numberwang itself is...a reference to something I'm not familiar with, I'm pretty sure.

Jay + Jay = I won with a score of 20888. I was disappointed that there's no option to continue playing past the winning move like in "basic" 2048...

I have come to the conclusion that the staff of JayIsGames wants us to hate them. Why else would they create a tribute to what may very well be the most addicting popular games right now? Why else would they put their faces on tiles that one is prone to yell at when loosing the game? Why else would they mention the game of the year award when we still have yet to vote for the winner of the 2013 game of the year (unless I missed it...)?

Is Tricky's favorite number 16 or 7 or both?
