Weekday Escape

JessAh, l'amour. The tingling bubbles in your belly, effervescent like champagne. The delight at the mere thought of seeing your beloved's face, the raw happiness that fills you to near-bursting; nothing, surely, could be more intoxicating than this initial infatuation. Even as the years go by and rapture subsides into loving companionship, it is impossible to forget that early, bright passion.

The Wedding AnniversaryThe Wedding Anniversary, a sweet, compact escape game from Japanese designer Robamimi, takes place on the night of (surprise!) one couple's anniversary. Your rather mischievous spouse has locked you into a bar and hidden away your ring... ok, kind of an odd way to celebrate, but perfect for all the married puzzle-lovers out there, right? Now, you must escape and rejoin your unseen love.

While The Wedding Anniversary is not terribly difficult, it is certainly satisfying; the puzzles you encounter are varied and interesting, and Robamimi has succeeded in avoiding any of the questionable "leaps of logic" that plague the majority of even high-quality escape games. The game is also quite good-looking, with graphics reminiscent of Gotmail's venerable series of escape games; unlike Gotmail, however, Robamimi has chosen not to include much in the way of pixel-hunting (hooray!). The game's interface is clean and friendly and a handy save feature is included. Perfect!

These are all excellent qualities, but what is perhaps most appealing about the game is its cool, easy-going ambiance. A simple piano tune floats through the air, melodious enough to enhance the game's atmosphere without unduly distracting the player; the deserted bar is decorated in a sophisticated and minimalist style. All in all, the game has an air of unhurried relaxation, inviting you to complete the puzzles at your own pace and enjoy the ride along the way.

With just enough challenge to engage, but not overtax, the mind, The Wedding Anniversary is a perfectly mellow respite from the workday world. Relax, kick back and indulge in a bit of sentimentality... it's more fun than a chick flick.

I struggled at first because I

clearly don't know how to count

But now that I have

hung the cooler on the lever to view the second safe, what do I do?
The same code doesn't work and there doesn't seem to be any more numbers, besides the blue thing with the bear symbol saying the number 70.

The main screen where you press start says that there is two endings.

I've gotten the ending where you don't use the notepad on one of the black stools.

Anyone got any ideas on the second one?

Hint Through

The first hint:

"How many shapes as red marks are there?"

Well, there seem to be some red marks on that table...

Where do you you see those objects like those red marks?

Behind the bar, how many glasses do you see?

Multiply them together.

12x16x16 = 3072

Now where can we use a four-digit code?

No, not the door yet. Did you look at the cabinets behind the bar?

Look, a gift for you!

The second hint:

"It needs a weight to press the lever down"

What needs a weight? What lever? Look around.

There is a rectangular white machine to the right behind the bar. Check it out.

So what could you use to weight down that lever?

Have you looked in all the cabinets?

Even the bottom one on the far left?

Can't get it open?

Check the drawer above it.

I bet it could open further...

If you clicked where that arrow is pointing.

Got the ice bucket (wine cooler)?

Well, let's use that on the lever!

Hrm. That didn't work. Maybe its bottom is too round. I wonder how we could attatch it to the lever...

Did you open your present?

Use the ribbon from the present on the ice bucket, then use that on the lever.

Did that work?

Nope. Not heavy enough. What could we put in it?

It is an ice bucket... Did you see any ice?

There is a freezer to the left of the door that leads out of the bar area.

Fill the bucket with ice, then use it on the lever.

Okay! Now it looks like we need another four digit number.

The third hint:

"The memo teach a place to look at"

Did you see a memo?

Well, there is a note pad on a bar stool, but I don't see anything on it. Maybe someone wrote something and tore the page off...

We could rub it with a pencil...

Do you have a pencil?

On the other table, with the bears.

But it isn't sharp... What could you use to sharpen it?

Did you look in all the drawers?

Use the knife to sharpen the pencil, then rub it on the memo pad.

But what does the memo mean?

Did you open your present?

Can you find a bridge to look at with your binoculars?

The lower brown bridge you can see through the window.

Figuring out the four digits

"BAMI I B R"? That looks like the name of the bar written on the wall, with some letters missing.

Which letters?

ROMA - what could that mean?

Look at the bottles behind the bar.

Check the date on the bottle from Italy, and use that as the code in the white machine.

The fourth hint:

"An useless item is removed. Is there a leftover?"

Well, what can we use this little bear for? Have you seen a red square somewhere?

Put the red tile on the small case next to the ice freezer.

This seems to imply we nees a green tile

Where might a green tile hide in this room?

Check in the plant by the front door.

and a blue tile.

Well, I can't find it hidden anywhere in the room. Maybe I already have it.

Look again at the present box.

That is a lot of padding... I bet you could hide something under it.

Cut through that white padding with the knife, and take the blue tile.

So now we've got a safe. What could the combination be? Did we see three numbers?

On those tiles?

Click on the right of the dial to get to 30, then the left of the dial to get to 10, then right to 70.

In the safe we have...

A card and a box with a ring... Very important for the wedding, but not to our escape.

But what else is in here?

Did you see the black card on top of the safe?

Okay! So now we've got the ID card for the door. Unfortunately, we still need the passcode.

The fifth hint:

"When you see the black card, cock your head to the left side"

What does that mean?

Well, do it. Look at the inside of the black card, sideways.

The grey lines spell "CUT"

Well, do it! Use the knife on the left side of the card.

The sixth hint (if you need it):

"For example, April Fools Day is 0401"

What date did you see inside the black card?

Feb 11 = 0211, the passcode for the front door.

OPEN!

Thank you always! I never forget this feeling!

@Lily
The ending depends on whether you

take the ring or not.The notepad has nothing to do with it. It just tells you where to look with the binoculars.

How did people figure out the code for the safe (the one in the white container next to the ice). I tried everything before reading the spoilers here, but no one said how they discovered it.

Score: 0 (0 votes) Vote up Vote down Report this comment Reply

Brooke

you need 3 colored tiles for that.

the first one appears in the safe behind the bar. after collecting the ribbon and getting the binoculars, you use the knife on the box and you get your first tile.

the second one appears after you have typed in the code for the second code on the far right bar after putting the cooler with ribbon on the lever, then get a pencil from the far right table, use your knife on it,then go to the pad by the front of the bar and use your pencil on that. then look at the bridge using your binoculars by clicking the top brick then go to the middle of the bridge and click your mouse so you see missing letters. then go back to the far right code box with the wine cooler on it and type 1892 and you get your second.

the third is on the far right of the room outside the bar on the plant.

put all 3 colored tiles where they go and click the handle.

@Chrissyheg,

to open the safe,

the 30, 10, 70 doesn't mean go 30 units left, 10 units right, then 70 units left again.

it means to go to the number 30, then go to the number 10, then go to the number 70.
