Okay so if you're looking to find out what the Safe code is but dont want to cheat by just having people tell you

Look at the fuel sign and the Speedometer real carefully it should come to you.

I KNOW you connect red blue green grey wires

BUT HOW?

WHERE DO YOU CLICK/WHAT TO DO?

you can't combine tape/knife

i think this is one of the biggest things people are getting stuck on!!!!!

Natalie, all you need to do is click on the colour wire you want to connect, it will do it itself. Then select the tape and click on the bare wires. I had trouble because I was trying to add the tape to the wires in the order they appear in the manual, but apparently that's not the case. (I think I got the blue one to work first). Anyway, you don't have to combine the knife/tape &c.

YAY!!! i beat the game in 49 seconds without the walkthrough!!! It's easy and fun!!! I just clicked everywere and when i reviewed the walkthrough, i dident need half the stuff!!!

the ignition thing happened to me... make sure the wires below the steering wheel are disconected. even if they don't have tape on them if thye're connected it messes things up, thats waht messed me up :-)

it cool game click on everything, look up, and on the ground. Look under everything and look at the dash board for code be smart i will not tell you everything. just use my hints.

i have the flashlight wth/batt/key and tape knife and i did the wiring using the sheet of paper but what do the wires do and that thing in the back, that calculator thing, i dont understand that?

I REALLY need help i got to were you're at the front and need to put the key in the slot i use it with that and it says "nothing happend"

i got stuck with the key...what you have to do is connect all of them except the yellow white and pink...make sure the others are connected with tape.

Awesome game, I got 19:51 with walk through on first try.

wow, i actually got the password for the trunk right on my own =]

oh yeah, and how were you supposed to know which wires were needed to hotwire the car?

Got stuck on opening the trunk, to get into it. Didn't get the code thing, but replaying the game, saw it was obvious.

i did it in 5 minutes and 14 seconds!

1) Click on the box between the two front seats and open it to get a flashlight.
2)click on the side of the screen game on the left or right twice to move your view to the back of the car. Pick up with Screw driver.
3)You will see a white box between the back seat, click on it and you will see a cigarette lighter click on it to find a key. Grab the key and click out.
4)keep looking at the back seat. Look at the white box again but do not click on it. click to the left or right of the box and you should be looking at the floor. Under the right rub you will find a blade.
5)Look at the back seat again and take the blade to cut the two straps on the seat.
6)Look back at the front of the car and click on the glove compartment. Take the key to unlock it. grade the batteries and the tape. Click on the batteries then on the flashlight to put one inside the other.
7)Go to the back of the car and click on the top part of the car to look at the ceiling. You will see something that look like it is under the fabric. Take the blade and car it to find a book.
8)Look at the front of the car again. click under the steering wheel. You should be looking at the gas and break peddles. With the screw driver click on the box under the steering wheel. Now you should be looking at wires. Open the book to see what wires to connect. Connect those and cut take around them.
9)Click out and go to the back of the car again click on the square on the seat to remove it. Click behind it once removed to look at a control panel. Type in E40, it is the code to unlock the panel. Once unlock you should be in the trunk.
10) Once in the truck use the flashlight to light up everything. You will see a cracked light on the left, use the blade to break the light and a key should fall out.
11) Take the key to the front of the car, and click on the control panel behind the steering wheel. Insert the key and a light should come on. Click out and now click under the steering wheel like you did in step 8. Click the trunk button, and you should here a unlocking noise.
12) click back until you are in the trunk again. Now click on the trunk door and you should be free.
13) You beat it.

Omg! This game is so easy! I finished this game in 2:36. With the help of the codes! I played this game so many times w/o the help, and found it, wrote it down, and won it. It was easy

ONLY tape the green, gray, red, and blue tape togehter. If you want to open to the cheat thingy-majig, find the knife located under the mat which is under the back seat. Once you find the key, which you want to break in trunk, put it in the ignition. IF YOU TAPE ANY OTHER COLORS OTHER THAN THE ONES I TOLD U! IT WILL NOT WORK! REPATING: IT WILL NOT WORK! Good fing luck!

OMG!!!!! this game was aggrevating but on the 3rd try i did it in 1:17

grrrrrr. All you kids stop posting silly times. Its impossible to do in less than 2mins unless youre just following the walkthrough.

It's really fun! At first, I couldn't figure out what to do after you open the trunk and get the key because I connected all of the wires! Then I looked at the instructions on this site all the way to where it says look up and i went back to the game and i did it in 1:57! It's fun and so is trying to get out of the closet in the next one!

the code is e40 and the booklet for the wires is under the roof. go to the back view of the car, and click near the top. Click on the knife and then that patch on the roof to get the booklet. After you cut the roof, the booklet is in your inventory.

Done in 00:03:12!!

Go to the back of the car, click the white creamy box in the middle of the seats, click on the cigarette lighter and collect the key, go to the front of the car and use the key on the glove box, collect the tape and the batteries, go back and collect the torch from the box in the middle of the drivers and passengers seat, go back to the back of the car and go down so your looking at the floor, lift the mat on the right side and collect the knife, face the back seats and use the knife on the straps, look up so that you are looking at the ceiling and use your knife on the odd part(it may take a while, but keep clicking) and collect the book, read it, face the back seats again, click the middle seat(the one that you cut the straps on) and go behind it, enter E40, use the torch, on the left is a cracked light, use your knife on it and collect the key, go to the front of the car and go underneath the steering wheel, use the screwdriver to open the panel, connect the red, blue, green and grey wire, tape them(may take time), go back to facing the steering wheel, click on it, put the keys you found in the trunk in the starter-up thing(the ignition?), notice a red light went on, click back under the steering wheel and click the trunk button, hear a noise, go back into the trunk and click the trunk door...

Okay, first time - 8:48. Without spoilers. It was confusing at first, but then got easier as I got the hang of it. Going for speed - 49 seconds! I messed up taping the wires during this, so I think it can be done about maybe 4 or 5 seconds faster for an absolute perfect time. But, I'm still happy with myself.

took me 5:31 on the first time with no help.
1:03 seconds the second time and 0:53 the third

Okay, now I've been working on this for a few days. I got an almost perfect time! I got 41.35 seconds!! The wires part was good, but can be done a little faster. I HATE THAT WIRING PART. So, maybe I'll get it to 40 seconds, or even sub-40 seconds!

how is anyone supposed to know the code is e40?

[Edit: just look at the front meter panel and you can see it there. E for the gas gauge pointing to E, 40 for the speedometer pointing to 40. It's fairly straightforward when you think about it. -Jay]

you should tape the wires before putting the key in the ignition it may take a few clicking

The code into the trunk was the E on empty for the gas gauge and the the mph on the speedomoter. It reads 40.

hey, this was very helpful, and i have been looking all over for escape series and can only find the escape from elm, and haunted thing and the version something.something... and so i really want a NEW escape one, and i thought this was not original, this is a very fun challenging game. it really is different, and i had tons of fun... i hope he makes a third escape series, like after the closet, he could make, like #3 the Ambulance or something like that... but thanks for the walkthrough... The shizz

how were you supposed to find out what the code was? I had to look in the walkthrough for that.

im only 13 and it took me 5 mins. ;))

finally after 41:30 i finally finished. was stuck with ignition until i finally figured out its really hard to click the right spot on the wire with the tape. if it wasnt for that i wouldve been 11 mins.

i accidently put the green wire together.
but i un-taped it.
i taped the other 3 together.

Your Worst Nightmare: Either you didn't connect the right wires or you didn't even do that at all. Only the red, gray, green, and blue should be connected.

bob: Red, gray, green, and blue wires should be connected. Nothing more or less. You're not alone, I also despise taping the wires too.

completed it in 23 secs - was browsing the posts for it while it loaded and accidentally found the code for the back seat. oops

nipper = it's only impossible to do under 2 mins if you are THICK!!!

The key doen't fit in the egnition! how do i get it to fit?

-Examine the console in the bottom middle of the front seat
-Open the lid and take the flashlight
-Turn around to the back seat
-Examine the console in the bottom middle again

-This time you will see the back of the console, the ashtray
-Pull out the lighter and take the small key underneath
-Return to the back seat
-Click the bottom right or bottom left area of the screen to look at the backseat floor
-Examine the floormat on the right and take the knife from underneath
-Return to the backseat
-Click the ceiling area, above the rear window
-Use the knife to remove the wiring guide from the ceiling
-Go to the front seat
-Examine the glove box and use the small key to open it
-Take the batteries and electrical tape
-Combine the batteries and flashlight
-Return to the backseat
-Use the knife to cut the straps on each side of the cushion
-Click the cushion to set it aside
-Click the small dark gray area behind the cushion
-Enter "E40" on the numberpad (this can be seen from examining the instrument panel in the front seat. The E on the gas gauge is circled, and the speedometer is stuck on 40)
-Use the flashlight with batteries to see
-Break the cracked light cover on the left with either the knife, screwdriver, or hammer
-Take the key that falls on the floor
-Return to the front seat
-Examine the pedals underneath the steering wheel
-Use the screwdriver to open the panel underneath the steering wheel
-Following the wiring guide, only connect the red, blue, green, and gray wires. Use the electrical tape on each connection
-Examine the instrument panel behind the steering wheel
-Use the key in the ignition switch to turn the car's electricity on
-Return to the area with the pedals, and press the trunk release button
-Exit through the trunk
-Air Horn Blows && your done

ok so for everyone who is stuck on the thing about getting the key to work in the ignition and you try to put the key in but it says 'nothing happened' listen up! i got stuck on this too and believe me it was not fun but i managed to figure it out. so this is what you do:

TAPE THE RED, BLUE, GREY, AND GREEN WIRES TOGETHER BUT MAKE SURE YOU CONNECT AND TAPE THE BLUE WIRE BEFORE CONNECTING AND TAPING THE GREY WIRE BECAUSE THE BLUE AND GREY WIRES OVERLAP. :) yep yep

i completed it in 1.12 no walk through ( i've done it 12 times b4 though ) cnt wait 4 ore that kowned

Hi, my first try was 00:17:56 because the seatbelt thingies wouldn't cut for me and it took me like 10 minutes just to figure out that all this time I had been using the mini-crowbar!! LOL :)

I started out the series when I stumbled on escape #3. I liked it alot and decided to do number 2 and 1. #3 was the most difficult so the others were pretty easy. I LOOOVE the escape series. Please make more afro-ninja!

okay... i got it... people that are getting stuck on the ignition part. you dont conect the pink white and yellow wires... then click on the trunk button then go to the back of the car then get into the trunk and click the little lock thing on it and BAM your out... i sucked at this game... took like 17 min... fun neways

If you guys really think this game is too easy, play the Dark Room and that whole series. Also Blue Room, Red Chamber.. and if you're brave, the Dark Complex.
