Just released only hours ago, the latest addition to On's much beloved Grow series of games at Eyezmaze.com.
This one is titled Grow ver. 1, since it is based on one of the first concept games he created for the series. There is no score system, but rather he says to play it as you would look through a picture book. In particular, your children may enjoy playing it with you.
By clicking on one of the available options, animations unfold based on your choices. It is much less a game than the other games of the series, and yet it still offers the same charm and delightful surprises that we are used to finding in his work.
Enjoy the latest Grow from Eyezmaze. Click.
Don't forget Grow Ornament, a perfect little holiday game for this time of year. Also, if you're new to the Grow series of games, be sure to play the original Grow (v.3), Grow RPG, and Grow Cube. Oh, and don't forget to play Tontie, too. There's even a special tribute to Tontie in this latest Grow game. Can you find it?
Cheers to Sean for being the first to send word about the game. =)
Still not Grow gratified? Play the entire Grow series of games (in order of release)...

Wow, just finished. Glad to have another release of this game....
I love this site :)

Jay - me too! that was pretty awesome.
This one's nice in that even though there's only one "true" ending, all of the others are fun to watch too.

I love this guys' work. I'm always lousy at these Grow games, have to read walkthroughs. Can you believe I got it right the 1st time? You can't? Neither can I.
But I did. :o) It's good to know I have the ingenuity of a 5 year old.
But I couldn't stop there. Thanks to the infinite undo button I can explore every option which is also very visually rewarding. His work sorta reminds me of Peter Max's style.

I was trying to make an ordinary plant :/

I was just wondering if anyone knew why when you get the whole cave scene that there is a section you can click in the bottom left, the safe next to the hammer. It doesnt seem to do anything so why put it there? (Is it a bonus or something?)

This must be the only Grow game I was able to finish without a walkthrough. I hoped there were multiple endings though.
PS. Jay, I keep trying to submit games through your form, but after I click submit I always get a blank screen. I have tried disabling my proxy but it still gives me a blank screen. Is that supposed to be happening?

I think I like this one the best, just because the multiple endings (though they aren't all the correct one) are so intricate and amusing. Eyezmaze does it again. :)

The moment I saw the word Grow, I dropped everything. I turned off my music, stopped chatting with my friends, said bye and abruptly hung up my phone, and clicked the link.
This is the best Grow yet.

I made it through on the first try, but I love going back and doing all the possible combinations. I loved the one where the ant type society was built!
Posted by: Janet | December 10, 2006 12:58 PM
To all of you people who didn't understand what the underground "ant colony" was all about, drop everything and...
GO PLAY TONTIE! =)
Xenonym - What OS and browser/version are you using when using the online form? This is the first time I have heard of a problem using the online form, as many hundreds of games have been submitted using it.

Two great flash games in one week! I can barely contain myself.
I played through all the different endings and my favourites had to be the "ant colony" and the maxed out ending. But the ending with the starry "planet" was a close second; I wish he had done more with it.
Cheers! Keep 'em coming.

Awww, another Grow game! I love every single incarnation of this series.

On my first try I got a chubby vampire.:D
Posted by: The Lob | December 10, 2006 5:34 PM
I finished on my first try, but went back and did every possible ending, I do believe. There are some fun ones in there!
Posted by: Linz | December 10, 2006 6:20 PM
I got to congratulations on my first try :)
Posted by: Tsuken | December 10, 2006 6:24 PM
look there are multiple endings, and only one of them is "right" and thats the one that says congratulations at the end. however, i think that alot of them are really cool regardless or how far they actually go, like the one were they start to mine and stuff, its really cool, but it is only on the 5th lvl, and does not "win" the game.
i played this for a while, simply exploring all of the possiblities, there all pretty neat.
Posted by: Fred | December 10, 2006 6:45 PM
the different results are so varied that this is i think my favourite version so far
Posted by: cami
|
December 10, 2006 7:24 PM
The undo button only seems to activate after you get the "Congratulations" ending, but after that, you can explore to your heart's content.
I really like this one. It's fun even if you don't find the final solution because each ending is so different and clever. It's fun just trying it all.
Posted by: Mea | December 10, 2006 8:14 PM
Thank you.
I've been dying for a new Grow game lately, or any game by them, and once I saw this, I stopped everything (including my paper for school - oops) and clicked.
Tontie behind the scenes was so adorable. I almost thought that was the ending scene.
Maybe we'll find out about the little yellow fellows next...hmmm...
It was great.
Posted by: CrayonxFingers | December 10, 2006 8:25 PM
The thing with this game is that you CAN'y beat it. There are soo many possible endings you just look at everything you can make! I actually took half my day to look at most of them, and I must say I love it.

Jay- I am using Firefox 2.0 with Privoxy(www.privoxy.org) acting as a proxy. Windows XP Service Pack 2.
Posted by: Xenonym
|
December 10, 2006 10:01 PM
Xenonym - my guess is that it is directly related to the proxy you are using, as it is probably messing with the HTTP_REFERER server variable that the PHP script uses.
Posted by: jay
|
December 10, 2006 10:24 PM
Jay- It works! When you said HTTP_REFERER, then I remembered about Norton Internet Security. Disabled it and it works!

On the underground tontie ending there's a red guy guarding a door in the bottom left who occasionally falls asleep. Under him there is a jar or something that is a button. It doesn't appear to do anything though as far as i can tell.

Another lovely gem. Like others, I actually got the MAX solution in the first try, but then had to go back to try every other permutation just to see the delightful explorations. Yes, I even let the final credits go on for several minutes, just to watch the cute little surprises go by.
Posted by: tragus | December 11, 2006 3:06 PM
I looved this game! I'm pretty sure I got through all the endings and they were all so cute! Does On make up all the music and sound effects for his games? I always admired the artwork of his games and also the sounds. Both are very distinct and so Eyezmaze.
Posted by: mango | December 11, 2006 7:22 PM
You know, I have to laugh at myself, I got it on the first try BUT my reaction? "OMG No WAY! I never freaking Get These!!" Gotta love Grow.
I feel like it's time for a HoeDown with this music.
Much love, Jay. Thanks for being Mr. Posty Pants. Alas, Finals Week. Egads the Orgo. Someone remind me why I became a Bio Major? Oh, Right. Stupidity.

WALKTHROUGH!
Posted by: VINNY | December 12, 2006 10:56 AM
Alright, another grow game!
This one was fun, though pretty short. I like the approach it takes, giving you different options depending on what previous choices you've made (though that's actually the detail that shortens the game so much).
The undo button is a great addition, too (unless that's been in some of the older ones and I never noticed it, at which point I should be kicking myself for all the time that ate up)

It's great the ending you end up with a whole kingdom ruled by the great Tontie XD
Posted by: Gold_Star | December 26, 2006 9:50 AM
To Michael: WHAT? This wasn't the worst by a long shot! This was one of the best and most creative! Open your mind!
Observed Facts about the Tontie Kingdom:
White: The queen, breeding more Tonties.
Green: The diggers, setting the foundations
Red: The builders, putting down the essential objects and buildings needed. Also guards.
Orangeish-Yellow: The economy workers, working the currency system and the stores and housing.
Blue: The prince.
We should totally get someone to make an online game like that, where you team up to build cities and go to other cities and stuff. =D

And finally 7. Battery!

http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q104/CrystalXx95/grow.jpg
CUTE! You can get this by
1)Dig
2)The second option[the red-pinkish jar]
3)The 1st option[red Arrow down]
4)The hearted crown
5)The Dig-tool[That's the only one]
6)The Ladder[That's the only one]
And, WATCH (: Enjoy! But that's not the correct one, they'll tell you to grow over after that. I'm just sharing this 'cause I think it's CUTE! :D
