Wow. The Dark Room is an absolutely brilliant Flash puzzle game that is as gorgeous as it is enjoyable. Using only the mouse, point, click and solve the mystery of the dark room in this amazing and remarkable hi-tech themed puzzle game. I do not want to say much about it since figuring out the game is part of the fun. Let it suffice to say the game is non-violent and universally accessible to people of all ages. All you need is a bit of common sense, some memory, and a little logic to play; however, people who are colorblind may experience some difficulty. It is one of the best Flash games I've seen, and I have played many excellent Flash games. Trust me on this, do it now. Play The Dark Room.

For those of you who can't beat the white room, go to all the rooms you have completed and if you look around on the walls, you will see a rotating circle on one of the walls in each room. Mach those to the walls in the white room.
And for any other rooms, look further up and you will find a spoiler for all of them.
Posted by: Cassidy | August 31, 2005 3:07 PM
how do you win the white room? give me the answers not what to do. it didnt work for me. i put down the colors but then what do u do with the color rings you didnt find? help me !!! just say what walls have what size and color rings Please?
Posted by: derek | August 31, 2005 8:15 PM
umm... derek... its no use if we just give you the answers for the ring- thats the end of the game. go to the other rooms, and you can "cheat" on what to do to find the answers- but trust me that its no fun if we just "give" you the answers. (still not as fun using cheats on how to anyway!)

hey that was kinda fun. ^_^ The only one I started getting frustrated on was the green one, so I cheated. ~lol~ The white one was the easiest for me, because near the beginning I noticed those circles and couldn't figure out wth they were for. Figured I'd save 'em for later. =) yay!

i do not get how to get through the 1st room
Posted by: anthony | October 5, 2005 6:34 PM
Anthony - the "1st room" depends on which one you selected to do first, since there are 7 different 'rooms' than the one you start in.
Identify the room by the color you chose.

Josh - it sounds like you just finished only 1 of 8 games in the Dark Room. Find another color, solve the puzzle, rinse, repeat. =)

October 19, 2005 1:11 AM
hey again, i finished all the rooms and all of the colours lit up on the side with four boxs each, but i finished all the colours than finished the white then when i went back to the first room all i could see was the 6 boxs on 1 side and there was rainbowy blurrs after it lead to a different button, not the red blue or yellow, but a diff button when i clicked it it turned light blue and the colour didnt spred to the warp oad thingy, what do i do next?
Posted by: Josh | October 19, 2005 11:23 PM
Josh - I'm not sure I understand where you are from what you wrote, but this is how the game is structured:
There is also a puzzle that is activated by each of the 3 secondary colors, green, orange, purple, which are made by combining pairs of the primary colors.
You need to solve each color's puzzle. When you do, the room fills with swirls and provides you a clue with which to solve the white puzzle.
Combine all of the colors to get to the white puzzle, which, when solved, enables the door through which you can leave the room and end the game.
Does that help?

I highly enjoyed this one it took me a while since i was working thru it in school but i finished it without hints. The green room is hard as hell tho. It sometimes helps to draw out the cubed room for some of the rooms.
Posted by: Chris | November 30, 2005 11:47 PM
I just started to play the game but in the first room (the dark one), how can I solve it?
Can someone help???
Posted by: BL | December 3, 2005 11:07 AM
hey hiram archibald, draw the walls of the white room on a piece of paper and label it according to its relationship of the wall with the bullseye in the upper right hand corner. then go back to every color room you've beat. every room has a wall that has a spinning thing similar to that of the white room. write down which wall and what circle has the color of that wall. then go back to the white room and put the colors on.
Posted by: axaxaxax | December 3, 2005 11:42 PM
i drew a cube on paint and marked where things were for each room... i found this really helpful

any one who's stuck on blue room-
okay, not much of a spoiler, but it helped me, and it took awhile to realize it
Posted by: verra | December 22, 2005 5:26 PM
Wow - that was a good one - really tricky to figure out what you have to do - but I did most of them with out cheating too much.
Posted by: quackling | December 30, 2005 3:03 PM
Well... I'm in a bit of a delema. The third room I went into was, what I belive, is the "white" room. It does have white edges aswell. For clarification, this room has the orbiting circles in it. You do need to have solved all the other rooms (and I know why) but I can't go into any other new rooms... Back inside, in the first room, the color of the circle I clicked on to activate this room was blue. Do I have to completely restart to do this correctly? Or is there a way I can simply go into another room. I don't see anymore circles to click on anywhere around...

Comment to "im_a_believer", "Kitt" and others who want a general solution to the white room. I have done this puzzle so many times, and not one have I met the same solution to this room! No, there is no general solution, and Yes, You HAVE to do the other rooms first, since the solution appears in them! There are spoilers above! Read those, and You will see what I mean!
Cheers, Doc.

Hey!
I've solved all the rooms except the white one. What I have to do? Firstly I entered the white room and pushed some bottons in the circles, then I solved the other rooms and when I went to the white one again, it was like I've let it.
I want a solution! jejeje.
Thanks ;)
Posted by: willy | April 16, 2006 6:17 PM
Ok. so here comes a simple
Each and every room You solve gets a swirly pattern. Watch this pattern carefully! Note a change on one wall. This will certainly give You all You need to deduct the solution to the white room!

Hey Jay! I have completed all the rooms except the white room. I have been to all the other rooms and have seen the rings with the circles and different colors. I have used the info to try to solve the white puzzle room but when I put the colored circles according to the other rooms pattern I get no result.
I did complete all the other rooms out of sequence and wonder if that is my problem? Can you help?

Hey,
This game rocks. Don't think too complicated. The orange and the green room might take some time but with all the hints posted on this site the rest is super easy.
Posted by: Daniela | September 28, 2006 2:34 AM
This game rocks! Okay, I admit I used some help and spent at least two hours on the orange room before reading someone's walkthrough who said that:
Anyways, here's as many hints I can give you without actually giving a walkthrough. (Or, maybe it already is one.)
Red room:
Get a dice. Hover your mouse over each side that does not have buttons two see the number of spinning circles. For the two walls that have buttons, fill in the correct areas on the dice. (If its a six, for example, click all buttons, if its a four, click the four corners, etc.)
Yellow room:
Double click and try to light all walls yellow. Tricky, but pay attention to the corners of ceiling and floor. That's all the advice I have.
Blue room:
Start in the middle of the floor and make your way through the maze, touching each of the walls, and the destination is the middle of the ceiling.
Orange room:
DRAW A DIAGRAM. Show how walls correspond to the triangle bull's eye. It's a matching game here, but it takes forever. Why? Because every time you screw up, you start over. =(
Green room:
Each shape clicked will be mapped out on that wall in bright green and on all the other walls in a duller green. The object: make the whole room green! You can't overlap shapes or have two bright green squares on the same wall. This is sort of fun, if you ask me.
Pink/Purple room:
Again, DRAW A DIAGRAM and make life easier for yourself. The object is to move your mouse over all of the satellites without touching the spiders. Touch one, and start over. There are twelve of each.
White room:
After you complete each room, a spinning pattern will appear. Search for the hidden clue on one of the walls, which will tell you which orbit, color, and wall to place the orbits in the white room. (Sorry if that sounds confusing.)
Wonderful game, jay! Thanks!

the red room is the easiest for some... hardest for others. All of the rooms could be solved just as easily if you are from an alien planet... except this one. I think it isn't as good as the others because of this.
DO IT WITHOUT HINTS! It is much better this way.

DISCLAIMER: What you are about to read is the cheats to the game "The Dark Room" if you do not want me to spoil the game for you, do not continue reading this.
RED - It's a big die (singular of dice). If you run your mouse over the blank walls, the dots will light up. The number of dots on opposite walls adds up to 7. Of the two walls that you need to click on, the left one needs 4 dots (the four corners), and the right one needs 5 dots (the four corners plus the center).
YELLOW - You need to light up every square. An easy way to do this is to first click on each circle on the ceiling once, then click on each circle on the floor once. At this point, all of the squares on the side walls will be lit up. For each remaining square that is not lit up yet, click on it twice (not a double-click, that's too fast).
BLUE - It's a maze, starting from the center tile on the floor, and ending at the center tile on the ceiling. Draw it on a piece of paper. You'll need to pass over each wall on your way to the end. pretty simple. DON't hit the walls, only go through the tiles that have OPENINGS in them. OPENINGS ONLY where there is a path LIKE A REAL MAZE. Took me 3 minutes. real
simple.
ORANGE - It's a matching game. You'll need to match all 6 pairs without messing up to pass. Make a drawing. It helps.
1st pair- where the bulls eye is in top right- the one on the right
AND turn 90 degrees to left and its the one on the bottom
2nd pair- where the bulls eye is on top right-its the on on the bottom
AND on the ceiling its the one directly above it
3rd pair- where the bullseye is on top left- its the one on the bottom
AND turn 90 degrees to right and its the one on the top
4th pair-at the bottom where it is directly lined up to the bullseye
AND on the ceiling its the second one
5th pair-on the bottom its the last one AND where the bullseye is at
top left turn 90 degrees right and pick the bottom one
6th pair- DUH! the remaining two
PURPLE - You need to move your mouse over all of the satellites without moving it over any of the spiders. Again, a drawing really helps. There are 12 satellites (and 12 spiders).
THE SPIDER LOCATIONS:
-the bullseye is on top right- 2 Spiders
on bottom
-on the floor- 2 spiders are diagonal from each other
but they are not lined up to the bullseye
-the bullseye is on top left- 3 spiders, the only sattelite is on the
bottom left
-celing- 2 spiders diagonal from each other, there the ones not
lined up with the bulls eye
-90 degrees left from when bullseye on top right-
2 spiders both of them on the right side (top and bottom)
-90 degrees right when bullseye on top left-
1 spider its on the top right corner
GREEN - You need to light up the entire cube by clicking on the trapezoids. First, orient your view such that you're looking at the side wall where the bulls-eye is in the top right corner. On that wall, click on the trapezoid in the center. Rotate 90 degrees to the left. On this wall, click on the trapezoid in the bottom left corner. Rotate 90 degrees to the left again. On this wall, click on the trapezoid in the top right corner. Rotate 90 degrees to the left again. On this wall, click on the trapezoid in the top left corner. From this point, go to the ceiling and click on the only trapezoid, after that go to the floor and click the last remaining trapezoid. there you go

A walkthrough (well , kinda)
Blue Room -
You start from the bottom floor middle square to the top middle square (Note : its like a maze , each square has a path leading to another square , keep doing until you get it and press the blue button, if not , start again)
Yellow Room -
Easy , light up all squares with the buttons (I did this first and it was a snap..)
Red Room -
Either get a dice , or try to think like one . Try move your mouse around the non-button walls , red circles will come out , draw these on a paper . there should nly be 6 walls with 1-6 circles on each (Other than the buttoned one)..Ex.The non-button walls are 4,5,3,6 . Now try to put the number 1 or 2 on the buttoned walls..Try to find a dice..thats all i can say for this room
Purple Room -
Ahhh , this is easy but annoying room , oook , the room may look like a room of nothing ...BUT!!If you move your mouse over a wall , there should be Satellites and Spiders popping out.
Satellites : get these , if you get 12 or 13 of them , you will compete the room.
Spiders : DONT get these , if you get 1 of these , all the Satellites around the room will DISAPPEAR (Sadly)..
Green Room -
Truest me , i dont know how to explain this room...Check the waklthroughs in the comments or the one in the walkthrough section of this page
Orange Room -
Sadly , i cant explain this either , the comments above said how the things correspond to the wall (Wtf??)
White Room -
This ones hard too , first , go to the red room , on each of the 6 walls , you can see a black circle following a line . Write on a paper on which wall the circle and how big the circle is and what color the room is (As in .. What wall the circle is on , what color the room is and how big the circle is .).
Thats done....I guess

Hi,
Okay, I am painfully confused...
I've only JUST started playing and everyone's mentioning red rooms and white rooms ... But I'm in a black room.
Could anyone please care to explain to me? I've no idea what the objective of the game is, even.

Just try clicking around the room, you'll figure it out. This game is so much more rewarding when you try to figure it out for yourself.
Approach it like a point-and-click game.

Ha! Beat it. Thx to Tim. I didn't see his spoiler when I wrote my previous comment. That was fun! I don't care that I needed help. Here's the spoil that helped me solve it.
You'll need to match all 6 pairs without messing up. Make a drawing. It helps.
1st pair- where the bulls eye is in top right (the thing that got you in the room)- the one on the right
AND turn 90 degrees (or one wall) to left and its the one on the bottom
2nd pair- where the bulls eye is on top right-its the on on the bottom AND on the ceiling its the one directly above it
3rd pair- where the bullseye is on top left- its the one on the bottom AND turn 90 degrees to right and its the one on the top
4th pair-at the bottom where it is directly lined up to the bullseye
AND on the ceiling its the second one
5th pair-on the bottom its the last one AND where the bullseye is at top left turn 90 degrees right and pick the bottom one
6th pair-The remaining two
PURPLE - You need to move your mouse over all of the satellites without moving it over any of the spiders.
Or you can do it the hard way and just guess till you get it right.
From this point, go to the ceiling and click on the only trapezoid, after that go to the floor and click the last remaining trapezoid. there you go
White (May need paper) - Go to all the rooms that should be, by now, solved. On one of the walls there is a dot following a line. The size of the dot will be either Small, Medium, or Big. Write that down. Come up with a system that will help you remember which wall it was on. Also, remember the color of the room. Do this for every room. Go to the white room and click on the size of the line the dot was following and a dot will follow. Click it again to change the color. Make sure it's on the right wall! When the room is solved, exit and go through the door. Hope this helped!!!
