TrickyColor Pic-A-Pix Light Volume 2Whenever Conceptis releases a new installment of their Conceptis Light puzzle series, it's always a cause for celebration. And if you're looking for some colorful pixelated picross art as paraphernalia for your personal party, then look no further than Color Pic-A-Pix Light Volume 2.

As before, the goal is to color in a picture by correctly placing colored squares. Each puzzle consists of a grid with clue numbers of various colors on the top and to the side, and the color square placement corresponds to those clues. Use the mouse or hit the [spacebar] to select colors, clicking a square once to fill it with that color, again to mark it as blank, and once more to clear it. You can also drag over a string of square to fill them with a color. A highlighted "ruler" will help players focus of the selected lines and columns. While it is allowable for strings of different colors to be adjacent, strings of same colored clues will have at least one empty square between them. Sadly, there is no option to change hue schemes for colorblind players.

With only ten new puzzles to solve, the game may feel a bit more like an addendum to the first, rather than a completely new volume. Still, Conceptis is among the best at what they do, and all ten are high-difficulty stumpers with polished presentations that should keep pen-and-pencilers occupied for quite some time.

I'm playing the second puzzle and I got to a point where the solution is not unique.

I'm down to the last bits of red near the top of the snowman and there's no reason for them to be arranged one way or the other. If the author had put more blue up there like how the rest of the non snow man areas are, it would work.

Puzzle 5 is impossible to complete without guessing.

I was able to get all the squares in the puzzle with the spider, except for the blue ones in the upper right and left. The only way to continue would be to try things until it says you got it. The numbers don't provide a solution. I think also there are multiple possible solutions in those corners.

The hardest one was puzzle 9. Had to do lots of the old "there's five spaces that these three could go into so I don't know exactly where these three go but I know for sure that this one space must be this color". Took forever!

The last puzzle wasn't that hard, but I had looked at the graphic for this article and it showed what solution was supposed to look like. I play this sort of game by not guessing and only putting colors in where the number clues will allow, but I wish I hadn't looked because I didn't get to deduce what it might be. Maybe article graphics for this kind of puzzle can be of a game in progress and not the final solution.

I didn't know what puzzle 9 was until the game said I had solved it and it showed a smaller version.

It only looks like a duck to me now because I know what it's supposed to be. The whole time I was kind of thinking it might be someone fishing!
