DoraA Blocky ChristmasBart Bonte exhibits epic levels of sleek, stylish puzzle simplicity with A Blocky Christmas where you play a magnetic star. Use the [WASD] or [arrow] keys to slide over the board, and just bump into green shapes on any side to make them stick to you like glue. You can get rid of a shape by going somewhere it can't follow you, or by sticking it somewhere that lets you slide off in a direction it's unable to move. The object of the game is simply to place yourself in the transparent image within each level, making sure any green shapes you need are stacked in the proper order. Hmmm... stars... green stuff... what could this all possibly be themed after... heeeeeeey... this is an abstract homage to Luigi, isn't it?! I'm on to you!

A Blocky Christmas might not have a lot of bells and whistles (other than jingle bells, anyway), but with its clever stage structure and classy design, it proves that Bart Bonte is one of the great masters of clean and smart puzzling. Even if you don't celebrate Christmas, it's easy to appreciate the game's simple concept and challenging execution... perfect for enjoying with a glass of your favourite holiday beverage, reclining after a long day of work. With just sixteen levels, A Blocky Christmas might be over too soon for some people, but if you want a bite-sized snack of holiday gaming guaranteed to get your gears turning, this is the perfect choice even if the weather outside isn't frightful, or you have no Christmas tree to rock around. Figured it out! Hint: Use your first 'stuck' move to wedge the bottom piece in a hole when you drag the whole thing. After that, the rest should be just a bit of fiddling.

Wow, another Bart Bonte game, and this one really got me hooked. The difficulty was a lot harder than usually, but still keeps you going until you figure it out. Especially level 12 had me for a while. Hint:

You need to get to the left side of the big brick and PULL it through. How?

Get to the left side of the small brick first (stick to it and push it right - then go back and grab it on the left side) and then get the big brick at the bottom. Now go into the passage so the bricks are left-aligned and go back right one step. Go to the bottom, and now you are on the left side of the big brick. Bring it through to the left side and get the small brick (pull this one too). Line 'em up.

That was great. I love Bonte games. Here are some hints for later levels I had trouble with.

14:

As far as I can tell you only have one move at the beginning. Do that, then bring the big piece on top of the smaller one, leaving a space on the left side. The goal is to have them stacked with the small piece on bottom in the gap in the bottom left, then the big piece on top and you (the star) on top of the big block. From that point it's straightforward.

15:

You want to get the small block alone in the bottom right corner. Then you need the big piece in the gap on the second row in the bottom left with the star on top of it.

16:

Start off going four spots left (or right). The goal is to get the smaller block alone by itself in the top right (or left) corner. Then get the two longer pieces side by side and figure out a way to get the longer piece underneath the middle piece.

Great game - like all of Bonte's work, deceptively difficult with simple gameplay. My only complaint was that the game was too short! More levels please :)
